Midwest and Chicago weather forecast

Digital News Report – Expect severe thunderstorms in the Chicago area tonight. There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says there is low pressure just northeast of Minneapolis with a cold front extending southward to Des Moines Iowa.

Chicago residents can expect mostly cloudy skies tonight with a low of 54 degrees. There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 9pm and 4am.There will be southwest winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.

There will only be a 30% chance of showers during the day Monday. Winds will subside slightly with a high of 59.

On Monday night the low will hit 40 degrees. There will be another chance of showers on Thursday.

It will be sunny Tuesday as things clear up.
