Severe Weather in Bay Area/ Central Coast

By S Wilson on February 16, 2009

Digital News Report- Santa Cruz, along with the rest of the central coast and bay area, has been struck with a sudden and powerful winter storm.  Numerous eyewitnesses have spotted lightening and there have been first hand accounts of blockage on Highway 17 by a possible landslide, though no official report has been obtained.

According to a weather alert issued by the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are expected through Tuesday afternoon.  The report also warns of the possibility of hail along with the heavy rains and winds.  Residents who live near the recently burned areas should also be away of the possibility of debris flows or landslides.
