Digital News Report- A man who reportedly robbed a bank in Santa Cruz last week in his underwear has been arrested. James Archuleta, 29, is also suspected of being behind two other bank robberies.  He was taken into custody at a motel on Ocean Street on Friday.

Archuleta was still stained red from an exploding dye pack that was placed in the bundle of money and several red dyed bills were found in the motel room.  Archuleta removed his shorts after the dye pack exploded and made his get away in his underwear.

Staffers at the county jail apparently recognized Archuleta from a bank surveillance photo and contacted his family in an attempt to locate him.  He had a prior arrest in 2007 in Monterey County on suspicion of two bank robberies, but he was not convicted of the crime.  After his arrest, he confessed to the three recent bank robberies in Santa Cruz, according to police spokesman Zach Friend.

Several witnesses identified Archuleta in a line up.  He is believed to have acted alone in the robberies according to Friend.
