A24 has revealed that its upcoming documentary about Elizabeth Holmes will be titled You Can See Everything. The film was screened as a secret screening at the Telluride Film Festival on September 6, and its first teaser has now been released. The project was initially shrouded in secrecy, with reports emerging more than a year ago that Nathan Fielder had made multiple visits to Holmes while she was incarcerated.

Fielder’s prison visits were part of a much larger and unusual endeavor, according to the film’s official synopsis. Thirty-four days before she entered federal prison, Holmes invited a skeptical documentary crew to record her daily life, according to TheWrap. The film follows the journey of Holmes as it unfolds over three years, beginning before her incarceration and continuing through her time in prison, according to a report from theplaylist.net.

The documentary is being released in theaters this October, with its world premiere at Telluride marking the first public showing of the film, BroadwayWorld reported. Fielder and Oppenheim are known for pushing boundaries in their filmmaking, blending documentary, comedy, and performance in unconventional ways. Fielder’s earlier work includes the acclaimed series The Rehearsal, which explores how people prepare for difficult moments through elaborate recreations.

Oppenheim has also worked on documentary projects that blend cinematic storytelling with real-life subjects, including the series Ren Faire and films like Some Kind of Heaven. The film’s title is particularly significant given Holmes’ public persona, which was built on carefully controlled appearances and mythologized image. Holmes was convicted in 2022 of four fraud counts related to her company Theranos and began serving an over 11-year sentence in May 2023.

The teaser trailer for You Can See Everything shows Fielder questioning Holmes about her authenticity while she holds her newborn child. Hollywood has long been interested in the story of Elizabeth Holmes, with several other projects previously attempted, including a film that would have starred Jennifer Lawrence. The film’s approach differs from past portrayals of Holmes, as it gives her direct access to the filmmakers and allows for a deeper look into her behavior and mindset.

Fielder’s style is known for its absurdity and psychological depth, which makes the documentary a unique take on a well-known figure. The film’s release in October marks a significant moment for both Fielder and Oppenheim as they continue to explore the boundaries of documentary filmmaking. Holmes was accused of deceiving investors with promises about a revolutionary blood-testing technology that never worked as claimed.

The film’s premise raises questions about how much of Holmes’ public persona was real versus constructed, and whether her cooperation with the filmmakers reveals anything new. The teaser trailer does not explain what the filmmakers discovered during their time with Holmes but instead leaves viewers curious about the journey ahead. This documentary is one of the most unusual projects to come out of recent Hollywood interest in Holmes’ story.

The film’s release comes after years of speculation about what Fielder was doing during his visits with Holmes in prison. It is the latest example of how Fielder and Oppenheim are redefining what documentary filmmaking can be in modern cinema. The film’s title, You Can See Everything, reflects the idea of exposing hidden truths about a person who was always in the spotlight.

Fielder and Oppenheim’s collaboration on this film shows their continued interest in exploring how people present themselves versus who they really are. The documentary is set to open in theaters this October, giving audiences a chance to see how the filmmakers captured Holmes’ complex story.
