City of Santa Cruz is offering discounted ParkCards with Groupon

Groupon How to Video - Watch belowDigital News Report – The City of Santa Cruz is offering 50 percent off city ParkCards through the Groupon discount website. The city is leading the way as being one of the first public offices in the nation to work with the discount shopping website, Groupon.com. It is for a limited time, and there is a limited quantity of 500 discounted ParkCards available.

The ParkCard discount is for a limited time; the offer from Groupon will be available between July 1 – 4, 2011. The Groupon deal will be to get 50 percent off will be off the ParkCard, which usually costs $18. Included in the offer is a $15 parking credit with the remaining $3 being for the price paid to get a rechargeable card. In order to get your chance at saving some money on parking, sign up at Groupon.com to get an email alert for Santa Cruz deals. When the Groupon Daily Deal arrives, they will email you the offer.

The Santa Cruz ParkCard is used as a way to pay for parking in the city at parking meters, garages, parking lots, or at the Municipal Wharf. The ParkCard lets you pay for the actual time spent at the parking spot. You do not need to have change, you just use the card, and it will deduct from the card. The ParkCard can prevent you from getting a parking ticket because it logs the time in and the time out. If you paid with pocket change at the parking meter, it could expire before you return. However, you do need to make sure that your ParkCard has ample dollars available on it to cover the parking charges.
