Digital News Report – The new film “Thor” is expected to dominate the box office this weekend. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, the God of Thunder and a warrior cast from the fantastic realm of Asgard.
Natalie Portman plays a scientist in New Mexico who finds Thor. Anthony Hopkins plays Thor’s father, the king of Asgard. The film, which was released last month in Australia, is based on a Marvel comic book superhero.
Last weekend “Fast Five” brought in $86.2 million. Few films have come close to that in their opening weekend this year.
There are a couple new movies this weekend that will appeal to the women. “Something Borrowed” and “Jumping the Broom” are good choices for Mother’s Day. In “Something Borrowed”, Kate Hudson plays Darcy, the fiancée of Dex. But there is a problem. Darcy’s best friend Rachael is falling for Dex too.
Other movies opening this weekend include “The Beaver”, “Last Night”, and “Passion Play”.
