Texas Speed Limit could go up to 85 Mph

Digital News Report

Digital News Report – Driving even faster in Texas could be coming to the state soon if the lawmakers approve a law to increase the speed limit to 85 Mph. The Texas House of Representative approved state legislation this past week to increase the speed limit to 85 Mph in areas. It has not yet been signed into law.

Currently the rural interstate roads have the following speed limits of 75 mph during day; 65 mph night and 80 mph on specified segments of road while trucks have a speed limit of 70 mph during the day and 65 mph at night. However their urban interstate roadways are 70 mph during the day an 65 mph at night.

Only Utah has similar speed limits to Texas. But if Texas approves the increased speed limit to 85 mph they will become the fastest roads to drive on in the United States.
