Kay Bailey Hutchinson Concedes Election To Governor Rick Perry In Texas Republican Primary

Governor Rick Perry

Digital News Report – Kay Bailey Hutchinson is giving her concession speech tonight after it became apparent that the incumbent Rick Perry has won the Republican primary for Governor. Perry will go up against Democrat Bill White in the general election.

“Whatever you think of Rick Perry, he ran a VERY good Republican primary campaign,” said Cheryl Gardner on Twitter. Others said he was a great campaigner.

The 60-year old governor (Perry will turn 60 on the 4th) is considered a Christian Conservative. It is yet to be seen whether an incumbent in Texas will be knocked off by a “Tea-Party” candidate. It appears the movement hit a road block in Texas (if you disagree – comment below).

It was difficult to create a coalition when many in the Tea Party didn’t agree, one analyst said.

The polls showed Perry winning over Hutchinson (except one early last year). The media thought it might be a close race, but it wasn’t.

Many Perry supporters are hoping he will run for President in 2012.
