The Santa Cruz ParkCard is used as a way to pay for parking in the city at parking meters, garages, parking lots, or at the Municipal Wharf. The ParkCard lets you pay for the actual time spent at the parking spot. You do not need to have change, you just use the card, and it will deduct from the card. The ParkCard can prevent you from getting a parking ticket because it logs the time in and the time out. If you paid with pocket change at the parking meter, it could expire before you return. However, you do need to make sure that your ParkCard has ample dollars available on it to cover the parking charges.
