Digital News Report – The county of Santa Cruz received a $125,000 planning grant to help develop a plan to help people get health insurance coverage.

The Santa Cruz Health Services Agency (HSA) has been working with the supervisors and the federal government to comply with the recent health care reform legislation.

“The 50% matching funds will apply to certified government health care service expenditures from schools, cities, counties, fire departments, etc,” the agency said in a statement. “The goal is to have a bridge to 2014 when these single adults will be eligible for Medi-Cal.”

The county plans on providing various services including clinical and primary care. Hospitalization will be included.

“The grant will allow Santa Cruz County to evaluate potential certified expenditures for match, develop a plan to expand coverage and services, and submit this to the State in late spring of 2011”.

The plan may include pharmacy, mental health care and possibly drug and alcohol treatment.
