Tom Cruise recently shared details about his conversation with Taylor Swift during a Kansas City Chiefs game. He said that Swift took the time to explain football to him in detail, calling her a genius and praising her sense of humor. Swift was attending the game with her husband, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Chiefs. The event took place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Monday, September 14, when the Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 31-10.
Cruise appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss his recent appearance at the game and what they talked about, according to soapcentral.com. When asked by Fallon what the two discussed, Cruise replied that Swift was teaching him about football, according to a report from Rolling Stone. Cruise said Swift knew the game well and was explaining football to him during their conversation. Cruise said he had been following Swift since she was young and that they also talked about music and movies. He added that Swift is not only funny but also a brilliant writer and musician.
Cruise had previously attended Swift’s Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium in London in 2024. The actor has continued to speak highly of Swift and her work since then. Cruise was also among the guests at Swift and Kelce’s wedding earlier this year. Cruise also mentioned that Swift admitted she knew nothing about football before meeting Travis Kelce. He recalled that Swift had talked about how much she had to learn about football after she began dating Kelce. Cruise noted that Swift described Kelce as very patient while she learned the game.
Travis discussed Swift’s growing football knowledge on Friday’s episode of the New Heights podcast. He said she can now recognize penalties and understand details of the game that she did not know when they first began dating.
The actor also mentioned that he had not attended a football game since before the pandemic. He added that attending the game with Swift was a special moment for him.
A Days of Thunder sequel starring Cruise has now been officially announced. Anne Hathaway will co-star in the movie while Cruise returns as race car driver Cole Trickle. The sequel is scheduled for release on June 2, 2028. There has been no confirmed announcement that Travis Kelce will appear in the movie or that Swift will contribute music.
Cruise and Swift have been spotted together at various events including Swift’s wedding to Kelce. They were both part of the celebration held at Madison Square Garden in New York. Cruise was one of many well-known guests at the July 3 wedding.
Cruise’s appearance on The Tonight Show also included a segment where he participated in the Claw Machine Challenge. During that challenge, he and Fallon attempted to win movie-themed prizes from a large pit. He joked about the possibility of turning his new film Digger into a musical. The movie Digger is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and will be released in theaters on October 2.
Cruise said Digger itself is not a musical despite online speculation sparked by its trailers. Warner Bros. describes the movie as an original film starring Cruise as a powerful man trying to prevent a disaster he caused. The film also stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons.
