The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth brings Brad Pitt back to 1977 Hollywood in a new film written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher.
Netflix has released the official trailer for a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The new movie will follow the character Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt in the original film. It is set almost a decade after the events of the first film, in the late 1970s.
The story takes place in 1977, eight years after the events of the original movie. Pitt won the Academy Award for best supporting actor for playing Cliff in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Cliff Booth is no longer a stuntman but works in various odd jobs, according to AOL. He works as a bartender, projectionist, and sometimes takes on tasks for people. The film’s official synopsis describes Cliff receiving a call from talent agent Karen Crosby.
Cliff is also working as a Hollywood fixer who handles problems for people inside and outside the entertainment business. Netflix says some of his methods can cross legal boundaries.
She represents Charlie Peters, who is known for doing his own stunts. Cliff meets other characters in Charlie’s world, including his wife Toni and football star Roderick Harrison. The movie also features the Verdusco brothers, who are involved in criminal activity across the city.
Elizabeth Debicki plays Karen Crosby while Scott Caan plays TV star Charlie Peters. Carla Gugino plays Toni and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison. Matt Groove and JB Tadena play the Verdusco brothers.
It is titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, according to a report from comicbook.com. The film will begin an exclusive two-week run in IMAX theaters worldwide on November 25. It will then be available on Netflix on December 23.
Netflix describes the new film as a crime story involving violence, ambition and desire in Los Angeles. The change marks a darker turn from the alternate-history Hollywood story told in the original movie.
Tarantino wrote the script for the sequel but did not direct it. Instead, David Fincher is directing the film in his first movie collaboration with Tarantino. This marks the fourth movie collaboration between Pitt and Fincher, following Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Pitt and Fincher last worked together on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was released in 2008. Fincher has also directed Netflix projects including Mank and The Killer.
The trailer shows that Cliff Booth’s life has changed significantly since the first film. He is now involved in different work, including his role as a Hollywood fixer. The trailer also reveals that Cliff Booth no longer works with Rick Dalton.
