Peacock subscribers are seeing another price increase after the NBCUniversal streaming platform reported its first profitable quarter. The service now costs 99 dollars per month for its premium tier.
This move comes after the company shared that it has entered a new financial phase following years of losses during its startup period, according to Yahoo Finance. Peacock’s financial progress follows a major restructuring in which NBCUniversal separated from Versant.
Under the new arrangement, Versant retains Comcast’s cable assets and digital holdings, while NBCUniversal keeps NBC, Bravo, Peacock, and its film studios.
During the second quarter of this year, NBCUniversal executives shared that Peacock’s financial performance may fluctuate from quarter to quarter. They cited the timing of sports events and other programming as key factors affecting profitability.
Peacock had 48 million subscribers during the recent second quarter. That number is up from 46 million in the previous quarter and 41 million a year ago.
The company continues to invest heavily in live events such as Sunday Night Football, NBA and WNBA games, Premier League matches, and college sports. These events are key to keeping viewers engaged and loyal to the platform.
Peacock also features a wide selection of movies and shows including The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The service includes scripted content like The Five Star Weekend as well as reality programming such as The Traitors and Love Island USA.
This latest price adjustment is part of a broader strategy to support continued growth and investment in the platform.
