Digital News Report – It is back! Fox’s ‘American Idol’ season 11 is premiering this January 18 and 19, 2012 at 8/7c. This year the auditions are in Savannah, Aspen, Galveston, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Diego and St. Louis.
For the first few weeks, viewers will be watching samplings of the people who auditioned this year. Then on February 9th, “Hollywood Rounds” begin. That is when the judges work on narrowing down the semi-finalists.
On Feb. 23 8/7c, ‘American Idol’ will be starting the competition rounds with the semi-finalists. Each week viewers can vote to pick their favorite performance.
Steven Tyler said during an interview by Oprah, that half of the kids that they send home are better than people like Janice Joplin. He said if he was on the show he might have not made it through.
