City of Sunnyvale announces New Public Safety Director

Digital News Report – The city of Sunnyvale has a new director for the Department of Public Safety (DPS). City Manager, Gary Luebbers, announced that Frank Grgurina will take over for the department starting on November 28, 2011.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety operates law enforcement, fire services, and emergency medical services for the city. There are currently 204 sworn officers working for DPS.

Grgurina previously served for the city of Fremont as a patrol captain and was an administrative captain for a year. Grgurina has 23 years of experience working for Fremont explained the City Manager Luebbers.

Grgurina said in a statement that the Sunnyvale DPS combined-service model is different, but he said that it has been shown to work for the community and looks forward to leading the department.
