Digital News Report – As we prepare for this year’s April Fools Day pranks, Americans are thinking about what to expect. If you are planning on being the April Fooler and not the Foolee, then here some ideas:
The April Fool Zone came up with a good idea. They recommend pouring some nail polish on wax paper. When the polish dries, peel it off and place it on your friend’s important document. Expect a horrified look on their face when they see it.
Funmuch.com came up with this April Fools joke. The night before April 1st, take the shower head off the shower and place a Life Saver inside the head. The next morning when they shower they wont notice anything until they start to dry off. They will have to go back in to rinse-off again.
Kids World had a great idea. They suggested putting gummy bears inside an apple (s). Give them to your friends and family. You can use other fruit but apples work the best.
April Fools History
Although there were references to April 1st foolishness in the 1392 Canterbury Tales, the celebration did take hold until the 16th century. It is not an official holiday and the celebration only lasts until noon in the UK, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. In the United States it can last all day.
One website, the Museum of Hoaxes, has studied the unofficial holiday. They ranked the top 100-hoaxes. Their number one prank was in 1957 when the BBC announced that mild weather and the elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil have produced a bumper crop of spaghetti in Switzerland.
