Dutton Praises Senate Pro Tem Steinberg for Pledge to Reform State Regulatory Nightmare

By Press Release on January 22, 2011

Digital News Report- SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) issued the following statement today regarding California Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg’s (D-Sacramento) call to review and streamline all of California’s regulations.

“I would like to thank Senate Pro Tem Steinberg for his decision today to introduce urgency legislation to review all of California’s thousands of regulations that have contributed to the loss of private-sector jobs over the past several years.

“I have introduced many pieces of legislation over the years, including SB 942 last year, which would have required a review of virtually every regulation in the state. Unfortunately, that bill and virtually every other bill that my Republican colleagues and I have introduced over the last several years to address this very issue was killed.

“Republican offices have continued to craft legislation over the last several months, just as we’ve done year after year, to address the very issue Senator Steinberg is talking about. We look forward to working with Senator Steinberg and the Democrats in passing this urgency legislation that will help streamline the regulatory process. That, in turn, will send a clear and positive message that we need and want private-sector investment and jobs in California.”
