6.9 Magnitude Earthquake shakes in Mexico’s Gulf of California Today

Digital News Report – Baja California and nearby cities felt the shaking of a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that was centered in the Gulf of California.

The earthquake occurred October 21, 2010 at 11:53 a.m. Local time. The nearest city was Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico which is located 65 miles S of the epicenter. The second closest city is Guamuchil, Sinaloa, Mexico which is 75 miles southwest of the center of the earthquake.

Residents reported to the US Geological Survey that they felt light to moderate earthquake activity in these nearby areas.
