Space Balloon Crashes on Take off

Digital News Report – A space balloon with a metal gondola attached below had crashed while trying to take off. The gondola smashed into two parked cars, destroying one of them. Luckily no one was in the cars when the metal caging crashed into the vehicles and nobody was injured from the event.

The giant space balloon was launching out of Alice Springs, Australia in an attempt to have it travel 20 miles to the edge of space to collect data on cosmic gamma-ray emissions. The giant space balloon was an experiment that was sponsored by NASA.

Local Australian ABC news station was on site to film the event and had captured the crash on camera. You can watch the raw footage of the space balloon crash below.
