Tornado Warning For Contra Costa County

By Jim Peterson on January 23, 2010

Digital News Report – There is a tornado warning for the Contra Costa County today.

A weather spotter saw a funnel cloud near Brentwood California, about seven miles South of Oakley about 1 pm. The Doppler also showed a strong rotation, according to a report from CBS.

During a tornado warning residents are asked to go indoors, preferably a basement or inside room, hallway or closet. Stay away from the windows.

Contra Costa County is in the San Francisco bay area about 40 miles north of Santa Cruz.

The funnel cloud was said to be traveling in the southeast direction.

The weather service is calling for clearing tonight but rain again on Sunday.
