Digital News Report – Santa Cruz – The 36th annual Fungus Fair happened this weekend at the Louden Nelson Center auditorium. The festival, sponsored by the Fungus Federation and the Santa Cruz Museum Association, showcased various mushrooms, both poisonous and non-poisonous.

The goal of the organizers is to expand the public’s knowledge and appreciation of mycology (study of mushrooms). There were baskets of fungi on display with hundreds of species collected over the previous weeks. Most of the varieties came from the counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito.
