Jay Reatard died in his Sleep at Age 29

Digital News Report – Jay Reatard was found dead in his Memphis home early this Wednesday morning, he was also known as Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. He was only 29 years old and passed away in his sleep.

Reatard’s body was found at 3:30 a.m. and the Memphis police have opened an investigation into the cause of his death according to a local Memphis newspaper, The Commercial Appeal.

Goner Records message board wrote “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night.”

Reatard began his music career at the age of 15 and in the late 1990’s he led a punk rock band called the Reatards. In 2006 he went out on his own with the release of Blood Visions. His latest work was released in 2009 which is a full-length version of Watch Me Fall.
