Glasgow used a dominant forward display and four maul tries to secure a bonus-point victory over Connacht at Scotstoun Stadium.
Glasgow delivered a powerful performance against Connacht, keeping their season unbeaten with a commanding display. Connacht made the stronger start but Glasgow recovered to win 36-19 at Scotstoun Stadium.
Glasgow took advantage of Connacht’s poor discipline and problems stopping the lineout maul. The home side pressed hard and found ways to exploit gaps in the visiting team’s defense. One of Glasgow’s early tries came from a driving maul that pushed forward with force.
The team’s physical approach was key to their success in the first half. Connacht prop Sam Illo received a yellow card late in the first half after repeated infringements near the try line.
His sin-bin left Connacht under extra pressure before Gregor Hiddleston scored his second try just before halftime. Glasgow’s fourth try was different from the others, relying more on skill and accuracy than brute force.
The try came after Jamie Dobie gathered a cross-kick and chipped inside for Josh McKay to score. The match featured several players coming off the bench to support the main effort.
Connacht’s replacements included Matthew Victory; Francois van Wyk; Finlay Bealham; Josh Murphy; Shamus Hurley-Langton; Colm Reilly; Sean Naughton; and Sam Gilbert.
Glasgow replacement Seb Stephen scored from another maul before Dan Lancaster kicked the final penalty.
