Goth seeks primary custody of their four-year-old daughter after years of separation and reconciliation. The divorce filing follows LaBeouf’s recent legal troubles.
Mia Goth has officially filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf after a relationship that has seen its share of ups and downs over the years. The actress listed July 28, 2025 as the date of separation in her divorce filing according to reports from TMZ. She cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind their split which is a common legal term used when couples cannot resolve their differences.
The couple met during the filming of the movie ‘Nymphomaniac: Vol. II’ in 2012 and began dating shortly after. They were spotted together in public as early as 2013 after LaBeouf ended his relationship with Karolyn Pho. Their romantic history includes a confrontation in Germany in 2015 which was caught on video but they were seen holding hands just days later.
They reconciled by 2020 after a split in 2018 according to the Associated Press. Isabel was born in 2022 and Goth has requested primary legal and physical custody of their daughter in court. Goth also asked the court to deny either party spousal support.
The couple had previously split in 2018 when a representative for LaBeouf confirmed that the separation was amicable. They reconciled a few years later and welcomed their daughter in 2022. LaBeouf later spoke about how Mia reached out to him during a difficult time while he was in rehab in Utah.
However the couple separated again in July 2025 after several years together following their reconciliation. LaBeouf has had a long history of legal issues and public incidents including arrests for trespassing in 2007 and DUI in 2008. He also disrupted a performance at Studio 54 in 2014 and was involved in an altercation during a protest in Queens in 2017.
In recent months LaBeouf was arrested twice in New Orleans after moving there following their separation. He pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor battery charges in June and received two years of probation along with requirements for alcohol treatment and anger management.
In March he was seen in Italy wearing only underwear while trying to light a cigarette. Police visited the couple’s Los Angeles home multiple times before LaBeouf relocated across the country according to TMZ.
A source close to Goth said she cares deeply about LaBeouf but is focused on what she can control in their situation. Reports have also described her efforts to provide stability for their daughter.
Goth is seeking primary custody of Isabel while allowing LaBeouf visitation rights. She has also requested that neither party receive spousal support.
LaBeouf’s past behavior has drawn criticism including a lawsuit filed by FKA twigs in 2020 over allegations of sexual battery and physical assault. That case was settled out of court in July 2025 with both parties issuing a joint statement about moving forward constructively. A second lawsuit involving a disputed nondisclosure agreement was resolved in October 2026 after LaBeouf agreed to void the confidentiality provisions of their earlier settlement.
The couple’s relationship has been marked by public highs and lows but their divorce filing now moves them toward formally ending their marriage.
