NASA Adds Blue Origin’s New Glenn 9×4 to Launch Services Contract

Blue Origin New Glenn Rocket Successful Launch
By Digital News Editorial Team on September 29, 2026

NASA has added Blue Origin’s New Glenn 9×4 launch service to its NASA Launch Services II contract. The addition was made under an on-ramp provision that lets existing contractors introduce launch vehicles or services not already included on their contracts. Blue Origin’s New Glenn had already been added to NLS II in 2020.

The new option expands Blue Origin’s existing place on NASA’s NLS II contract while a separate $23.5 million award to Omitron will support orbital safety operations.

The New Glenn 9×4 service will now be available to NASA’s Launch Services Program for future missions. The NLS II contracts are multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreements with an ordering period through June 2030. Their overall period of performance runs through December 2032.

The contracts support NASA’s Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate and Science Mission Directorate. They also support the Research and Technology Mission Directorate. NASA can use the contract to provide launch services for other government agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

NASA’s Launch Services Program at Kennedy Space Center in Florida manages the NLS II contracts.

In a separate announcement NASA awarded a contract to Omitron Inc. for orbital safety analysis services. This contract is valued at approximately $23.5 million over a five-year performance period. The services include conjunction assessment screening for all NASA uncrewed spacecraft and support for human spaceflight missions.

Omitron will also provide orbital safety analysis support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Space Commerce. Work under the contract will take place at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Johnson Space Center. Omitron’s facility in Beltsville will also support the work.

Other locations include Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren in Virginia and Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.

The Omitron contract is part of NASA’s effort to protect spaceflight assets and astronaut lives. Both announcements show NASA continuing to rely on commercial companies for launch capabilities and specialized space operations.
