Wide receiver Zay Flowers passed a pregame workout and played Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Dallas Cowboys 34-31 at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Flowers had been listed as questionable because of the hamstring injury that kept him out of Week 2.
Flowers passed a pregame test and caught five passes for 84 yards as Baltimore won on Tyler Loop’s last-second field goal.
Flowers suffered the original hamstring injury during joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings in August. He aggravated the injury during Baltimore’s season opener against Indianapolis and left that game early. Flowers opened the season with five catches for 150 yards and a touchdown against Indianapolis.
After the pregame workout Baltimore made Flowers active and he finished the Cowboys game with five catches for 84 yards plus a 20-yard run.
The Ravens entered the game with a 1-1 record. Baltimore improved to 2-1 with the victory while Dallas fell to 1-2.
Concerns had been raised about the Maracanã Stadium playing surface before the game. NFL field director Nick Pappas said before the game that the league had no concerns about the surface and crews were working to prepare it.
Nnamdi Madubuike and Teddye Buchanan both returned to action after missing the start of the season.
Madubuike had not played since Week 2 of the 2025 season because of a neck injury that required surgery. Starting left tackle Ronnie Stanley did not play Sunday because of a toe injury.
The game marked the third consecutive year that the NFL has held a regular-season game in Brazil. This move is part of the league’s effort to expand its global fanbase.
Tyler Loop kicked a 56-yard field goal as time expired to give Baltimore the 34-31 victory. Flowers made a late catch that helped put the Ravens in position for the winning kick.
