The Milwaukee Brewers were unable to complete their comeback attempt in a 3-2 loss to the New York Mets. Lindor and Luis Robert Jr. each hit home runs for the last-place Mets, who are now 13-6 since trading key players at the deadline.

Mets starter Zac Thornton gave up one run and seven hits over six innings, according to The Associated Press. With the Mets using a revamped bullpen and resting some relievers, Austin Warren was brought in to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning.

Warren allowed a leadoff double to William Contreras and then gave up a tying double to pinch-hitter Christian Yelich with runners at second and third. Despite the tie, the Brewers were never able to score the go-ahead run in that frame.

The Brewers had runners on second and third with no one out in the ninth but could only manage one run, according to a report from ca.sports.yahoo.com. That run tied the game at 2-2, but the top of the order failed to advance any further in the tenth inning.

Jonathan Pintaro kept the Brewers from scoring in the tenth, and the Mets ended the game with a strong finish, northjersey.com reported. Jefry Yan stranded the bases loaded after the game tied in the ninth.

Nate Lavender threw two perfect innings to protect a one-run lead for the Mets. Luis Lara had an RBI single for Milwaukee, but the team finished just 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position.

The Brewers now sit at 81-51 while the Mets improved to 60-72 after the game. Milwaukee’s next game will feature a matchup with Dustin May against Robert Stock.

Despite the loss, Brewers manager Yan was visibly frustrated after the game. Lindor celebrated his home run with a shout and a punch to the ground.

However, Lindor was picked off first base by Megill, ending the Mets’ hopes of a win. Christopher Morel hit a grounder wide of third base, and Lindor scored when Hamilton’s throw to home was wild.

Trevor Megill is now 2-3 on the year, and his performance in this game was considered one of the most undeserving losses you’ll ever see. The Brewers’ late rally did not come to fruition despite strong efforts from several players.
