Russia has launched a series of aerial attacks across Ukraine, resulting in civilian deaths and infrastructure damage. In the southwestern region of Rostov, five people were killed when three towns came under attack, according to local Governor Yury Slyusar. An 83-year-old man was also killed in the Moscow region after a Ukrainian drone struck a private home.
The casualties in Russia came as Ukraine carried out one of its largest drone attacks of the war. Russia’s Defense Ministry said hundreds of Ukrainian drones were intercepted, including many headed toward Moscow. At the same time, Russian forces continued striking targets inside Ukraine, including Kryvyi Rih, where an attack on a major steel plant killed two people and injured 14 others. The escalating exchange highlights the growing use of long-range drones and missiles by both sides as attacks increasingly reach areas far from the front lines.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 152 drones over the country on Saturday, according to thenightly.com.au. Of those, 124 were destroyed by Ukrainian defenses, according to the air force’s statement. One woman described the impact of a drone strike in vivid detail, saying it completely tore her mother apart.
The attacks occurred during a period of heightened military activity in the region. Both Russia and Ukraine have been exchanging aerial strikes in recent days, with damage reported across multiple areas. The Ukrainian government has responded by strengthening air defenses and calling for international support.
Local authorities in affected regions are working to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the attacks. The situation remains fluid, with more reports expected as investigations continue.
