She was diagnosed with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma at age 23 in 2023. The cancer is uncommon, especially for someone so young.
Sydney had a large tumor in her body and underwent major surgery, including removal of nearly 80% of her liver. She also had chemotherapy and took part in clinical trials for different treatments.
She was not afraid to talk openly about her diagnosis and the challenges of living with cancer. Her honesty helped many others who were going through similar situations feel less alone.
She had a strong following on TikTok and Instagram, with over one million people watching her updates. Sydney also created a podcast called Happy to Be Here where she talked about her life and healing process.
She even modeled at Miami Swim Week to show that people who have had cancer can still feel confident and beautiful.
In April 2026, she shared that it was the best month of her life. She had taken a break from chemotherapy and spent time with friends. She went to Florida for a brand trip and visited Coachella with her loved ones.
She said she felt joy again and that it was unusual to think about life without cancer.
She later had surgery as part of a clinical trial through the National Institutes of Health.
Even as her health declined, she continued to post updates. In May 2026, she shared that cancer had spread to her abdomen and pelvis.
Her doctors suggested moving to hospice care instead of continuing aggressive treatment. She did not give up and sought a second opinion while trying to join a new clinical trial.
Sydney’s brother Austin shared that she was in hospice care just one day before her death. He said she was surrounded by family and friends during her final hours.
She died on August 5, 2026. Her family said she was at peace when she passed.
