Tennis Champion Martina Navratilova diagnosed with Breast Cancer

By Victoria Brown on April 7, 2010

Digital News Report – Martina Navratilova, 53, will be on CNN’s “Larry King Live” this Wednesday night to discuss her diagnoses and treatment of breast cancer. She has been diagnosed with a noninvasive form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ.

Navratilova found out that she had breast cancer after having a mammogram. She then had surgery to remove the cancer and the next step is to receive radiation treatment.

The survival rate for this kind of cancer is high with a 95 percent chance she will survive. If the cancer wasn’t treated however, it could develop into an invasive breast cancer over a 10 year time period.
