A concert by Barry Manilow in Kentucky was called off at the last minute due to unexpected health problems. The show was scheduled for Tuesday night at Rupp Arena in Lexington, but it could not go ahead as planned.
This is not the first time the singer had to postpone a performance in Kentucky. Manilow had previously delayed his March show due to treatment for stage one lung cancer.
He underwent surgery in December to remove a cancerous growth from his lung. After the operation, he took time off to recover and rescheduled several upcoming shows.
The singer had also postponed his Las Vegas residency and arena tour dates in February and March. He explained that he was not quite ready to return to the stage even after his surgery.
Manilow shared that he had been too busy with his career to think about health issues. He said he never thought cancer would get him because he was too busy with music.
He admitted that he had not planned for the illness and felt unprepared when it happened. The singer said he had to rely on others during his recovery.
He expressed sadness about not being able to perform for fans in the near future. Manilow’s next planned performance is in Ohio on Wednesday night.
It is not yet clear if that show will go ahead as scheduled. His comeback tour is titled The Last Concerts and includes stops in several cities.
He has also resumed his Las Vegas residency with plans to perform through December. Manilow released a new album in June after a long break from recording.
His latest single became a top ten hit on the Adult Contemporary chart. He is recognized as one of the few artists to have a hit in each decade from the 1970s through the 2020s.
Fans have expressed their support and concern for his health on social media. Some fans joked about him being too energetic, while others simply wished him a full recovery.
