Digital News Report – The winner for stage 8 of the Tour de France race was Andy Schleck from Luxembourg. The July 11th, stage 8 of the Tour de France for the 2010 race was a tougher one with the second day of the cyclers pedaling their way through the Alps mountain range.
The first day of rest is happening on July 12th and the race continues on July 13th for another day in the mountains. The stage 9 has one of this Tour’s most difficult climbs in the Alps, the hors catégorie Col de la Madeleine.
Lance Armstrong hopes for winning the Tour de France this year has diminished according to several news reports. He won the Tour de France a total of seven times. This time however, he had problems with three crashes during the 8th stage of the race. Armstrong said that he will continue with the race until the end on when it concludes in Paris, France on July 25, 2010.
