Dafne Keen Says She Was Offered Cocaine at Age 11 During Hollywood Wrap Parties

Logan actress reveals disturbing experiences growing up in the entertainment industry, explains why she avoids drugs and alcohol, and recalls Hugh Jackman’s efforts to protect her on set.

Actress Dafne Keen has revealed that she was offered cocaine at Hollywood wrap parties when she was only 11 or 12 years old. The 21-year-old star of Logan described her early exposure to substance use while discussing the challenges of growing up in the entertainment industry.

Keen shared the experience during the November 3, 2026, episode of Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast. She explained that witnessing drug use and excessive drinking at such a young age influenced her decision to avoid both substances as she grew older.

The British-Spanish actress said the encounters happened at industry celebrations during her childhood acting career. She recalled being offered cocaine but made clear that she did not accept it.

Early Exposure to Drugs Shaped Her Decisions

Keen began working professionally as a child and entered the international spotlight through the 2017 superhero film Logan. Her experiences behind the scenes were not always as carefully controlled as her time working on major film sets.

During the podcast, Rosenbaum asked whether she had ever experienced a hangover. Keen said she did not believe she had ever consumed enough alcohol to have one, explaining that her childhood experiences made her cautious about drinking.

She recalled being around adults who used drugs and alcohol at industry gatherings. At an age when most children have little understanding of the entertainment business, she was already encountering behavior more commonly associated with adult nightlife.

The actress said the exposure did not make her curious about experimenting with drugs. Instead, seeing people under the influence discouraged her from participating.

Her account raises questions about the environments young performers can encounter away from the cameras. Although child actors work under rules governing their employment, Keen’s experiences involved social gatherings where adult behavior could expose minors to inappropriate situations.

Keen did not publicly identify the people who offered her cocaine during the conversation. She also did not name a particular production or describe any formal complaint arising from those incidents.

How Keen Avoided Pressure to Drink or Use Drugs

As she entered her teenage years, Keen developed an unusual way to avoid being pressured into drinking or taking drugs. Rather than always explaining that she was sober, she sometimes pretended that she had already consumed something.

She described telling people that she had already taken drugs so they would stop offering them. The statements were untrue, but she found that they helped her avoid unwanted pressure in social situations.

Keen recalled being completely sober while allowing others to believe otherwise. Her naturally energetic personality sometimes helped make the explanation convincing.

The actress also challenged the assumption that enjoying nightlife requires alcohol or drugs. She said she enjoys music, dancing and staying out late without needing substances to change how she feels.

Her comments were not presented as criticism of everyone who drinks. Instead, Keen described a personal decision shaped by experiences she had long before reaching adulthood.

Entertainment Weekly reported that she had never been drunk enough to experience a hangover. The actress framed her approach around maintaining control and avoiding experiences she had found troubling as a child.

Hugh Jackman Helped Protect Keen on the Logan Set

Keen also discussed the more positive side of her early career, particularly working with Hugh Jackman on Logan. She played Laura, also known as X-23, a young mutant whose powers closely resemble those of Wolverine.

The film followed an aging Wolverine as he struggled to protect Laura from people seeking to exploit her abilities. Their relationship became central to the story, with Jackman and Keen sharing many of its most emotional scenes.

Keen remembered Jackman as an unusually supportive colleague who took her well-being seriously. She said he paid attention to her working conditions and made sure the production respected the limits placed on her hours as a child performer.

Jackman also helped shield her from tensions behind the scenes. Keen recalled feeling protected while working on a demanding production that required intense action sequences and emotionally difficult performances.

The actress said the cast and crew treated her as a serious performer rather than dismissing her because of her age. They listened to her opinions and made her feel included in the filmmaking process.

Those memories offered a different perspective from her experiences at industry parties. While she encountered troubling behavior in some professional social settings, she also worked with established performers who supported her development.

Remembering Patrick Stewart After His Death

Another important figure from Logan was Patrick Stewart, who portrayed Professor Charles Xavier. Stewart died on October 28, 2026, at age 86, prompting tributes from actors who worked with him during his long career.

Keen shared an emotional Instagram tribute on October 29. She revealed that she had been drafting an email to Stewart the previous evening, making the news of his death especially personal.

She remembered his humor, kindness and willingness to guide younger performers. Her message described the lasting impression he made during their months working together.

Keen also recalled Stewart’s colorful reading glasses and his ability to make the filmmaking experience enjoyable. She praised his professional abilities while emphasizing the warmth and respect he showed to people around him.

The actress said Stewart influenced how she viewed the world beyond acting. Her tribute reflected a friendship that continued to matter years after their work together on Logan.

From Logan to Deadpool and Wolverine

Keen’s performance in Logan established her as a rising young actress. She later appeared as Lyra Belacqua in the television adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, expanding her career beyond superhero films.

She also joined the Star Wars universe through the Disney+ series The Acolyte. The production gave her another opportunity to work in a major franchise while portraying a character different from Laura.

In 2024, Keen returned to her Marvel role in Deadpool & Wolverine. She appeared alongside Jackman once again, bringing Laura into a story involving different versions of familiar Marvel characters.

The reunion connected her breakthrough performance with a new chapter of the franchise. It also brought renewed attention to the relationship between Laura and Wolverine, which had helped make Logan memorable to audiences.

Upcoming Role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Keen is preparing for another major television appearance in the third season of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians. She will portray Artemis, the Greek goddess associated with the hunt and the moon.

The season is scheduled to premiere November 20, 2026. It adapts The Titan’s Curse, the third novel in Rick Riordan’s popular fantasy book series.

Disney has confirmed that Artemis will play an important role in the new season alongside characters including Zoë Nightshade, Nico di Angelo and Bianca di Angelo. Keen has expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, noting her longstanding interest in Greek mythology.

The role marks another stage in a career that began when she was still a child. Her recent interview provides a more personal account of the experiences that accompanied that early success.

Keen’s description of being offered cocaine at 11 or 12 remains her own account of events that occurred years earlier. She did not identify who made the offers, but she made clear that those experiences shaped her relationship with drugs and alcohol.

As she prepares for the November 20 premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Keen continues to build a career that has moved from child acting into adult roles. Her podcast interview also offers a reminder that the experiences audiences never see can have lasting effects on young performers.
