Bruce Campbell, known for his roles in horror films and the TV series Burn Notice, has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with cancer. During an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show, Campbell revealed that doctors have given him a five-year prognosis. He expressed his intention to stay positive despite the diagnosis and emphasized that he plans to live with the condition rather than let it define his end.
Campbell described the emotional challenge of facing cancer by saying the journey can feel overwhelming, according to the New York Daily News. He noted that there are many others in similar situations and that he has chosen not to seek out those groups for support, according to a report from goodmorningamerica.com.
Despite the diagnosis, Campbell is continuing his work and promoting a new film project he has been involved in. He explained that cancer brings with it many complications beyond the disease itself. Campbell added that he doesn’t believe people die from cancer directly but from its effects and related issues.
He shared a statement on social media where he acknowledged the surprise of his diagnosis. He also emphasized that treatment must come before public appearances and other professional commitments.
Campbell has worked in both horror films and television, including a role as Sam Axe in Burn Notice. He has also taken on roles behind the camera, writing, directing, producing, and starring in an independent film. The project follows a widowed pear salesman who travels to scatter his wife’s ashes.
He noted that his career has changed somewhat due to the diagnosis and that adjustments are needed in how he approaches work.
