Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said he is extremely happy with his current role and wants to continue working with the club. He added that he feels grateful for the opportunity to work with the people at the club and that they will resolve any contract issues when the time comes. Arteta emphasized that his personal desire is to remain with the team and that he believes the club feels the same way. He also confirmed that there is no doubt about the club’s commitment to keeping him on board.
Arteta has been with Arsenal since September 2024, when he signed a three-year extension after the team finished as runners-up to Manchester City, according to The Guardian. The club had expected him to agree to a new contract over the summer, which would have made him one of the highest-paid managers in the world. Despite this, Arteta said that he does not expect any concerns about his future at the club to arise from contract negotiations. He noted that the team has always treated the matter with care and that everyone involved feels comfortable with the current situation.
Arteta expressed satisfaction with both the squad he currently has and the direction the club is heading in. He said that while Arsenal have strong points, they also need to be aware of areas where they lack the resources or structure that other top clubs possess. He believes the club must find its own path forward, even if that means making decisions based on their unique situation.
Arteta also mentioned that the club is preparing to raise its performance level and expects other teams to do the same. Arsenal is set to face Manchester City in the Community Shield, a match that will be held in Cardiff on Sunday. The team is considered a heavy favorite to win back-to-back league titles for the first time since the 1930s.
In addition, Arsenal is actively seeking new signings to support their current squad. They are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential move for Jarell Quansah to provide cover for William Saliba and Jurriën Timber. The club is also still looking for another attacker, especially if they can offload players like Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.
