Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to take Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan for the season, with an obligation to make the deal permanent next summer for £60 million. The move comes after Brazilian winger Savinho completed his £75 million switch to Spurs, making this week the second major transfer involving City players.
Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January for a reported fee of £59 million but struggled to find a regular role under Pep Guardiola’s management, according to gistreel.com. The 27-year-old Egypt international made 62 appearances across all competitions for City and scored 16 goals during his time there, including eight in the 2025-26 season.
However, he saw limited playing time last season as he competed with Erling Haaland for a starting position in the central striker role. Marmoush started only eight Premier League games and played around 700 minutes during the campaign, finishing with three league goals and three assists.
He was brought on as a substitute in City’s 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal and remained unused in their opening Premier League match against Bournemouth.
The loan move to Tottenham should give him more opportunities for consistent first-team football. Marmoush’s ability to play in multiple attacking positions makes him a valuable addition to Roberto de Zerbi’s squad at Spurs.
Although primarily a centre-forward, he has also played as a second striker and from the left during his time with Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City.
His flexibility could be especially helpful at Spurs, where injuries have limited Dominic Solanke’s availability and Richarlison is nearing the end of his contract.
Marmoush’s arrival pushes Tottenham’s total spending this summer beyond £312m.
The club has already brought in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, with additional signings including Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka, according to a report from modernghana.com.
The Egyptian forward now has a chance to revive his form in north London after finding it difficult to secure regular playing time at the Etihad Stadium.
This loan deal is part of a broader wave of activity at Manchester City this summer, as several key players have left the club in recent weeks, The Independent reported. Among those who have departed are Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake, and James Trafford, leaving City with significant changes in their squad.
Sandro Tonali’s face his former club Newcastle for the first time since his £100 million transfer earlier this summer. Newcastle are likely to provide a stern test after holding Liverpool to a 2-2 draw on Sunday.
