U.S Applauds Israel’s Defense Against Iran’s Missiles

April 15, 2024 — Following Iran’s unsuccessful drone and missile assault on Israel, major world powers converge over the issue. The United States characterized the failed attack as a “highlight” of the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) prowess. Meanwhile, Iran’s stern warning for a prompt and resolute response to any fresh Israeli incursion hovers ominously in the background.

Iran’s attack came six months after the IDF fell short on protecting its southern perimeter from a Hamas strike. Notably, the coalition of Israel, the US, Jordan, France, and Great Britain, acting as a military shield for the Jewish state, managed to repulse over 300 missiles and drones. This marks the first instance where this coalition has acted defensively for the region and Israel.

Despite the botched assault, the US isn’t seeking conflict escalation with Iran, but reiterates its enduring commitment to Israel’s defense. On the other hand, after initial reprisal discussions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was urged by US President Joe Biden to not misconstrue the successful defense launch as a win.

The US National Security Communications Adviser, John Kirby, stressed Iran’s clear intent to inflict havoc and casualties. He dismissed all claims attributing Iran’s failure to its operations being deliberately designed to fail, while simultaneously refuting rumors of Iran offering forewarnings to help Israel bolster its defenses. “Israel’s defenses, …proved even better than many had long assumed,” Kirby emphasized.

Highlighting China and Iran’s strategic alliance, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi communicated Beijing’s backing for Iran’s principled standpoints. Further escalation from Israel or violations against Iranian assets are set to be met with a vastly forceful Iranian counteraction.

Wang underlined that the ongoing situation springs from the escalating conflict in Gaza, pointing to the urgent need to implement Security Council Resolution 2728 and achieve a ceasefire. The Iranian side also conveyed its readiness to exercise restraint, denying any escalation intents.

With the international community keeping a close eye on the unfolding situation, the simmering tensions between Iran and Israel will undoubtedly impact future diplomacy.

– The coalition of five militaries repulsed over 300 missiles and drones targeting Israel.
– Iran’s assault marked the coalition’s first act as a defense force for the region and Israel.
– Despite successfully defending against the attack, the US and Israel refrain from viewing this as a victory.
– U.S stresses it is not seeking to escalate conflict with Iran.
– China communicates its support for Iran.
