By Victoria Brown on October 28, 2011

Digital News Report – Sony Electronics announced today that a new software update is available for Google TV that is on their Sony Internet TV and Sony Internet TV Blu-ray Disc™ players. The new update to Google TV will also add the Android Market. The update will start early next week with devices that are connected to the Internet.

New devices will get the update as it is first powered up, so long as it is connected to the Internet.

The Android Market will allow these devices to install hundreds of apps that are designed with television in mind. Sony’s original applications will now include TrackID that will help identify songs that are on TV broadcasts.
