NBC’s ‘Today Show’ pays tribute to Meredith Vieira on her last day

By Victoria Brown on June 8, 2011

Digital News Report – Meredith Vieira completed her last day as co-anchor on NBC’s ‘Today Show.’ She has been there for five years. The show paid tribute to Vieira’s time with them. They had Carole King perform the song ‘Got a Friend’ for Meredith and had a musical number with Journey’s song ‘Don’t Stop Believin’.

The show paid tribute with clips of her over the last five years. Al Roker, Ann Curry, Natalie Morales, and Matt Lauer all wore t-shirts saying they love Meredith. They all said goodbye, while Vieira got teary-eyed.

Her husband Richard Cohen, was on the show making a rare appearance. He has multiple sclerosis.

Vieira’s co-anchor replacement on the ‘Today Show’ is Ann Curry.
