Digital News Report

Digital News Report – It is getting expensive to fill up at the gasoline pump, and the trend is still on the upward climb. In addition to this, AAA said it is costing more to drive your car then in the past, partly due to gas prices.

California gas prices are not averaging $4.057 per gallon according to the Fuel Economy government website. Nationwide the average gas price is $3.684 per gallon. Gas prices are going up to over $4 per gallon in Illinois.

AAA had a report that said that prices are going up for how much it costs on average to drive. It is now 58.5 cents per mile to drive a vehicle said AAA. These are calculated not only based on gas, but also with things like maintenance, car parts and tires, depreciation, and insurance. The AAA annual ‘Your Driving Costs’ study that the organization puts together said that in one year, the national average a car owner will spend is $8,776 per year for a person drives around 15,000 miles during the year.

Commuters are faced with higher costs to get to and from work. The US government is offering tax credit incentives for certain new car sales. These cars are fuel efficient and include diesel, hybrid, or electric cars. For example, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt has up to $7,500 federal tax credit.
