Digital News Report – Although the movie will not be released for another two months, audiences are anticipating the “Green Lantern” (see trailer below).
Based on a comic book written by Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim, the movie is scheduled to be released June 17, 2011. Hal Jordan, played by Ryan Reynolds, is a test pilot for the United States Air Force. He becomes the first earthling accepted to the Green Lantern Corps.
The Corp is an intergalactic police force that patrols the DC Universe on behalf of the Guardians, a race of immortals. They have been a fighting force for over 3 billion years defending the innocent in multiple conflicts. The movie may indicate “hundreds” of years.
So what makes the Lantern Corps so powerful? Each of the warriors wear a ring that grants them superpowers.
In the “Green Lantern” movie, the Corp must fight the Parallax. As a new corps member and the first human selected, Hal must prove himself. His childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) encourages him to use this new-found power to save humanity and defeat the Parallax.
The film leaves open the possibility of a sequel.
