Sarah Lane Claims About Black Swan

Digital News Report – Sarah Lane, the dance double in “Black Swan”, says Natalie Portman only performed five percent of dancing seen in the film. Portman, who prepared for over a year for the role, was touted as performing the majority of the dance moves.

Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millipied told the LA Times that Portman did 85 percent of the dance scenes in the film. “Honestly, 85 percent of that movie is Natalie,” he told the Times.

Lane read the interview and felt the need to speak out. She told Entertainment Weekly that the filmmakers wanted to give the impression that Portman was “some kind of prodigy”.

She said she has been dancing for 22 years and it takes longer than a year and a half to become a ballerina.

Portman, who is the fiancé of Millipied, has not commented on Lane’s remarks, but the studio has. The studio said they were fortunate to have Sarah Lane work with them on the film. “However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film.”
