Third Reactor Damaged by Explosion

Digital News Report – There has been an explosion in the number 2 reactor at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi No 1 Nuclear Power Plant at around 4 pm PT (8 am Tuesday local time) raising concerns that there may be a melt-down.

The Japanese government has not yet made an official statement on the matter, but previously officials said that 190 people have been exposed to radiation.

This is the 3rd reactor to have the outer containment structure damaged by an explosion. It is believe that hydrogen gas exploded.

Throughout the day officials at the Tokyo Electric Power Co have been watching the number three reactor which has been producing white smoke.
