Digital News Report – The city of San Francisco is suing Hector Santamaria of New High Protection Roofing Company and Salvador Gonzalez of Salvador Trucking Service for dumping.

City Attorney Dennis Herrera tells Digital News Report that the two parties “repeatedly” deposited tons of roofing material and other debris in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco.

Herrera says that since Sept 2010 more than 100 tons of material has been illegally dumped. Apparently they dumped the pollutants on the streets and sidewalks.

“I am grateful to the Department of Public Works, the San Francisco Police Department, Supervisor Malia Cohen, and local business owners who have worked extensively with our office in the months leading up to the filing of this lawsuit”, Herrera said.

The City Attorney claims they dumped more than 10 times. The Department of Public Works has spent in excess of $60,000 cleaning up the mess.
