Prepaid Mobile Phone Plans versus Pay as You Go Plans

Digital News Report

Digital News Report – Not all prepaid mobile phone plans are the same. There are pay as you go mobile phone plans that are minutes that give you hundreds of minutes or even unlimited minutes each month, while there are pay for the year in advance or for 30, 60, or 90 days in advance. When shopping around you will find a wide range in prices for these prepaid plans that can leave you wondering which one is the right one for you.

First you have to ask yourself how many minutes that you need each month. Are you looking to have a phone only for emergencies and won’t use it much at all? You might use it more one month and use it less another. You may text more than talk, and if this is the case you might be better off focusing in on unlimited sms texting plans.

If you are looking for the cheapest plans per month you will find that Tracfone, Tmobile Prepaid, and Virgin Mobile have very competitive packages. The confusion comes in deciphering how to get these deals. Tracfone sells phones with double minutes for the lifetime of the phone so long as you keep it active, so every time you purchase minutes you get twice the amount of time. This can help keep your cost per minute lower. The Tracfone you can stock it up with minutes to last for the year. Tmobile Prepaid also has a $100 for 1,000 minutes that last for one year’s time. This is a good rate for those that don’t want to keep restocking minutes and won’t use the phone much over the year. Virgin Mobile has a $6.99 per month plan plus taxes and fees which brings it to about the same cost as the the others. What is nice about the Virgin Mobile prepaid plan is that you can bill it to your credit card each month and you don’t have to worry about restocking it once a year to keep your phone active. The hardest part about Virgin Mobile is finding the prepaid mobile phone offer on their website. It seemed difficult to navigate to the low cost deals.

There are others that are pay as you go plans that offer unlimited data, talking, and texting. These plans usually are much higher. Some plans will start at $30 per month. But you will find most of the plans starting around $50 per month. If you know how many minutes you talk, text, and use of data each month can help you to keep your monthly fees low. If you know you use lots of time going for the unlimited plan might be the best deal. This can be especially true for those that have experiences going over their allotted time and getting a big bill.
