Digital News Report – San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera called for and received a preliminarily injunction against two warring criminal street gangs in the city.

The injunction, which was granted on Thursday by Superior Court Judge Charlotte Woolard, will prevent certain activities by the gangs in two-tenths of a square mile. According to Herrera, it is believed that the gangs are responsible for ten homicides in the area in the last three years.

The injunction bars the adult gang members from displaying gang signs, loitering and trespassing. The injunction includes provisions against intimidation, graffiti and vandalism.

Gang members will also be banned from associating with other gang members, possession of drugs and weapons.

Herrera called the area dangerous. “It’s my hope that these 41 gang members follow a trend established by San Francisco’s other enjoined gang members, and cease their lawless conduct.”
