SB 1051 Diastat: Administration of Emergency Drug for Epileptic Students

By Press Release on May 30, 2010

Digital News Report – For months, I have been working on Senate Bill 1051, a bill to help prevent epileptic students from experiencing brain damage or death due a seizure while at school. The bill was debated and passed by both the Senate Education and Senate Health Committees with bipartisan support.

However SB 1051 was held by Senate leadership in the Appropriations Committee due to union pressure. Today, I stood up on the Senate Floor to call on Senate leadership to put aside politics and release this bill so that it may move forward. You can watch the video here and you can read more about the bill in the following articles.
