Digital News Report – Recent job figures indicate that the unemployment number would be worse if it wasn’t for government hiring. Government jobs can be very secure compare to jobs in the private sector.

Some of the new workers are census workers but that only accounts for part of the number. The federal government is still our nation’s largest employer and they are still hiring.

The website that promotes government employment says that the jobs address the challenges our country is facing today and contributes to the wellbeing of 300 million Americans.

The government claims that their employees enjoy flexible work schedules, mobility, training and development and a competitive salary. When you add in the benefits, the pay is more than competitive. The government offers comprehensive medical coverage through their health insurance programs.

Employees with student loans can benefit. According to one financial aid website, “Under certain circumstances, the federal government will cancel all or part of an educational loan.”

Finally the government hiring website says that employees enjoy job security. Besides the security, they enjoy “generous” vacation and leave policies.

Prospective applicants can also apply online.
