Mardi Gras Celebrations

By Jim Peterson on February 16, 2010

Digital New Report – Besides New Orleans, Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday in English, is celebrated in areas all around the world, including the Bay Area.  Today is the last day to celebrate before the first day of Lent, which begins tomorrow on Ash Wednesday.

Now is the time to eat fatty and rich foods before Lenten fasting begins. They will be celebrating at Ozumo’s on the corner of Broadway and Grand.  The free event will begin at 5 PM and will feature the music of New Orleans.

Not to be outdone, Pican’s next door to Ozumo’s is celebrating with beads, boas and “traditional NOLA bites”.  Their party will begin at 5:30 and you will need to cough-up $75 at the door.

If you happen to be in Los Angeles, visit the Beverly Boulevard restaurant Dominick’s and Little Dom’s where they will serving Jambalaya, Cochon de Lait Po Boys, and Muffaletas.

Harold & Belle’s will be serving Crawfish and Étouffée.  They are located at 2920 W. Jefferson in Los Angeles.
