A conference give-away

Digital News Report – Real Networks (RNWK.O) was up nearly 3 percent today after founder it was announced that founder Rob Glaser has stepped down. The company is known for media software including RealAudio and RealPlayer.

Recently the company has been trying to emulate entertainment service companies Rhapsody, SuperPass, and RealArcade who provide music, games and entertainment.

In 2000 the stock was selling for $88 per share. Soon after a stock split the company lost momentum and rarely spiked over the teens. Today the stock traded for $3.86 a share.

“After nearly 16 years, I’ve decided it’s time for me to step away from day-to-day operations,” Glaser said in a statement. “I remain committed to the company.”
